Voices of the Dark

A Mandalorian Fan Comic.

Story & Inspiration

Din Djarin, The Mandalorian, is now in possession of the Darksaber. An ancient weapon passed on in his culture for centuries. With it comes the burden of Mand'alor, the ruler of all Mandalorians and their home world. An unwanted title and responsibility for Din. But a weapon so old holds secrets and ghosts. Ghost's of past Mand'alors and the countless victims the blade has slain. They live on in the Darksaber and they want power... and they'll use Din to get it.

This concept is referred to as 'Din's Haunted.' Several other fans developed the concept and lore and it somewhat took the fandom by storm. Needless to say once I saw peoples work of these haunting images of Din with piercing white glowing eyes I was hooked and started developing a story a few days later. The trope of 'The spiraling into madness hero' is one of my favorites and was a blast to write. Showing the evil lurking just below the surface until it inevitably can't be contained anymore.

I find it extremely interesting to tell a story where our hero is flawed. They're human. In this story, Din succumbs to the Dark. He can't fight it alone. He knows this yet doesn't seek help, taking on the burden himself. And he looses that battle. In the end it's his friends and the the love for his son that saves him.
